This adaptation of the popular Marvel Comic sees super-powered mutants outlawed in America of the near future.
Magneto (Mc Kellen), the Holocaust survivor and master of magnetism, will not stop at mass murder to protect his own kind; Professor Xavier (Stewart), a telepath, seeks peaceful co-existence with humankind.
Enchanted is one of the nastiest, most insidious children's films adults will have the displeasure of seeing this year. Faithful adaptation of the Broadway musical rather than a remake of John Waters' 1988 film.
Although darker elements of the story are lost in pursuit of fun and a mainstream audience, this all-singing, all-dancing teen flick shines amid a summer of noisy blockbuster sequels. The Son of Krypton has been absent from Earth on a quest to find surviving fragments of his long since destroyed home world.
Marsden has had a blast showing off his comedy chops in the past few years, most notably with his role as Liz Lemon's paramour Criss Chros on "30 Rock." Marsden was also probably the best thing in the otherwise mediocre "Sex Drive," stole scenes left and right from Amy Adams in "Enchanted" and managed to sucessfully crash the otherwise estrogen-heavy "Bachelorette." Marsden recently wrapped "Walk of Shame" with his "30 Rock" pal Elizabeth Banks and will be seen as JFK in Lee Daniels' upcoming "The Butler." He's also rumored to be returning for a fourth go-round as Scott Summers/Cyclops in "X-Men: Days of Future Past." "Anchorman: The Legend Continues" will commence with production in March with a look toward a Dec.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, star Amy Adams is "expected" to return.
No word yet on James Marsden, Patrick Dempsey, or Susan Sarandon.
Shout it from the rooftops: the Enchanted sequel is coming together in a major way!
The 2007 original introduced Giselle, a textbook princess who finds herself thrust into the real world away from the singing birds of her home, the cartoon kingdom of Andalasia.
